August is an awesome month for Mixed Martial Arts. I had two big fights that I was excited about: Anderson Silva vs. Forrest Griffin and BJ Penn vs. Ken Florian Gina ‘Conviction’ Carano vs. Cris ‘Cyborg’ Santos, don’t ask why I didn’t care much about the Penn-Florian fight.
First fight’s first, Anderson Silva vs. Forrest Griffin. Dominated is a word few, and I mean FEW, will associate with Forrest Griffin; but you’d be stupid to think that Anderson Silva will not be able to dominate Forrest Griffin.
I had no doubts that The Spider will win the fight, the question was: how? People got bored with The Spider’s last two fights against Patrick Cote and Thales Leites, respectively. Critics were questioning him: Has he lost motivation? Was he scared against Leites? Did he not train as hard? Dana White himself was disappointed with Silva’s performance and was afraid his bouts wouldn’t generate as much money is they should be…and maybe he was on to something.
